Ducks Unlimited, Inc., the continent’s leader in waterfowl and wetlands conservation, seeks a Director of Development for the Great Lakes region.
The ideal candidate will have fundraising experience with an emphasis on personal solicitation and a strong conservation ethic. Additional qualifications include a college degree, extensive interpersonal, relationship and team building skills, oral and written communication skills, ability to provide leadership and guidance to other development professionals and volunteers, computer literacy with a proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database programs, and a desire and ability to travel extensively within the region. Familiarity or experience with planned giving, a working knowledge of the region’s philanthropic community, and an interest in outdoor conservation activities are also desired.
*Great Lakes Region (based in Ann Arbor, MI or Ohio)
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for the development efforts in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana
- Responsible for identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations to support the conservation mission of Ducks Unlimited
- Work closely with volunteers as well as conservation and development colleagues on initiatives and proposals for assigned prospects
